1.1 Billion Dollar Pie. Who Doesn’t Want A Piece?
Imagine your favorite athlete. If I asked ‘why’, chances are you would comment on their competitive nature, technique, or athleticism.
What if I told you, athletes no longer have to be trim like Serena or stacked like LeBron?
Actually, lets remove physique & vigor from the equation all together.
Welcome to the world of electronic sports – where professionals compete in a wide array of video gaming some of which simulate real-life experiences.
Simple as downloading a game to your smart device, the average joe can become an esports athlete today with promise of a livelihood, sponsors & stardom.
Similar to traditional sports organizational structure, esports competitors get compensated based on skill & of course by bringing the trophy home.
But, think big. Bigger than big. Like an audience of 335 million big! The Entertainment Software Association sited this number as the global audience for esports.
See for yourself. Google esports and check out the stadiums full of raging fans & high-end sponsors.
The point being that as the esports space emerges, so does the need for journalist, commentators, media buyers, contact experts, distributors, creatives, designers… the list can go on & on.
So, what’s holding you back from getting your piece of the $1.1B male-dominated industry? You heard me right ladies, similar to traditional sports, gender disparity is already prominent. Women esports tournaments are significantly underpaid & lack top-dollar sponsors.
